William Lane Craig (lahir 23 Agustus 1949) adalah seorang filsuf dan teolog asal Peoria, Illinois, Amerika Serikat. Ia mempunyai spesialisasi dalam bidang filsafat analitik dan apologetik Kristen.

Craig meraih gelar Ph.D. pada University of Birmingham tahun 1977. Ia mengajar pada Trinity Evangelical Divinity School dan Westmont College. Ia telah menjabat sebagai Research Professor of Philosophy pada Talbot School of Theology di Biola University, La Mirada, California sejak tahun 1996.

Ia membangkitkan ketertarikan umum atas Kalām cosmological argument mengenai keberadaan Allah dengan publikasi bukunya pada tahun 1979 berjudul "The Kalām Cosmological Argument". Dalam bidang teologi, ia juga membela aliran Molinisme dan kepercayaan bahwa Allah adalah subyek dari waktu sejak peristiwa penciptaan semesta.

Craig telah mengarang atau menyunting banyak buku, termasuk Reasonable Faith: Christian Truth and Apologetic.

Kehidupan pribadi

Craig lahir pada tanggal 23 Agustus 1949, di Peoria, Illinois. Ia menikah dengan Jane Coleman pada tahun 1972. Mereka dikaruniai dua anak.^[2] Craig lulus SMA dari East Peoria Community High School pada tahun 1967.

Latar belakang Akademik

Craig meraih gelar B.A. dalam bidang komunikasi dari Wheaton College, Illinois pada tahun 1971. Ia meraih dua gelar Master (M.A.) dari Trinity Evangelical Divinity School di Deerfield, Illinois pada tahun 1975, satu dalam bidang filsafat agama dan lainnya dalam bidang sejarah eklesiastikal serta dalam Sejarah Pemikiran Kristen.^[1] Ia mendapatkan gelar Ph.D. dalam filsafat di bawah bimbingan John Hick pada University of Birmingham, Inggris, pada tahun 1977 dan gelar D.Theol. di bawah bimbingan Wolfhart Pannenberg pada University of Munich, Jerman, pada tahun 1984.^[3]

Dari tahun 1980 sampai 1986 ia menjadi assistant professor of philosophy pada Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. Untuk waktu singkat ia menjabat sebagai associate professor bidang studi agama pada Westmont College di Santa Barbara, California, dari tahun 1986 sampai 1987. Tahun 1987 sampai 1994 Craig melakukan penelitian lebih lanjut pada University of Louvain, Belgium. Sejak tahun 1996 ia menjabat sebagai research professor dalam bidang filsafat pada Talbot School of Theology, Biola University di La Mirada, California.^[3]
